We recently had the pleasure of attending the EGSA Spring Convention in Savannah, Georgia. The Electrical Generating Systems Association holds these conferences twice a year, bringing together some of the biggest manufacturers, dealers, distributors, and vendors in the field. This year’s roughly 350 attendees know that this is the place to be if you want to learn about the newest technology and how it could affect your business. It’s also an ideal place to take advantage of huge networking opportunities.
The keynote speaker this year was Patrick Meyer, the CEO Futurist and Business 3.0 expert. In his speech, entitled “Powering Up Your Game,” he spoke about how technology can help your business. As we move into a digital world where new mobile and social technology trends change the landscape, your business needs to keep up. He talked about shifting the way you run your business to fully take advantage of current technology and future advances. We also heard speeches from Troy Huey, who gave attendees an in-depth look at one of the hottest topics in the energy sector, hydraulic fracturing, and Chris Nagle, who spoke about the unique challenges of entrepreneurship and six key facets of successful businesses.
Seeing guest speakers isn’t the only thing to do at the EGSA Spring Convention though. There are also nine committee meetings that cover a huge range of topics, from education and market trends to international trade and green initiatives. Most of these meetings saw record attendance numbers this year. The spring convention is also provides a great avenue for promoting your business by becoming a sponsor. This year we opted for a banner ad on the website.
We had a great time at the EGSA Spring Convention, and we already can’t wait to attend this fall’s slate of meetings and guest speakers.
